Pavilion for Chelsea Flower Show.
Feix&Merlin’s pavilion designed for Charlotte Harris Studio as part of her show garden for the Royal Bank of Canada, at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
The design for the pavilion and the garden draws from the romance and beauty of the forests, waterways and geology of the Boreal Forest in Canada. This Canadian landscape features cedar, larch and birch trees, a rugged granite bedrock, and minerals and ores such as nickel, iron ore, and copper.
Inspired by the materials and textures of the Boreal Forest the pavilion features black charred timber, (larch), and aged patinated copper. The pavilion rises up from the ground to create a shelter and canopy, with a picture window and thin vertical louvres, that frame views of the planting, and cast shadows across the landscape. The 13 vertical louvres are in reference to Canada’s 13 provinces and territories.
