Bar, ticket and skate hire kiosks for the pop-up roller skating rink in London’s King’s Cross.
The individual kiosks were designed as a family of structures. Each is clad in stained-black sawn timber planks. Linear strip lights and festoon lightbulbs are used to provide ambient lighting to the dwell areas in front of the kiosks as well as spell out the use of the kiosk itself.
“F&M brought a bit of magic to the West Handyside Canopy at King’s Cross in 2013, with a completely original roller skating rink called ‘Skate KX’. They have been my favourite architects to work with. Julia and Tarek embody the thing I love most about the design process – they bring a whole new perspective that you wonder why you’d never seen before, and they have fun doing it.”
