Walworth Town Hall submitted for Planning

Our big renovation project with General Projects and Southwark for Walworth Town Hall has now been submitted for planning. We have been hard at work developing the scheme in more detail including updates to the grand debating chamber with a new overhead light feature; and the main cafe/lobby space (bottom) with a characterful arched timber structure.

The proposal for the debating chamber includes opening up the volume of the roof to celebrate a new exposed roof, with the addition of a bold overhead light feature in the centre of the space.

The whole scheme is anchored by a new café / lobby space and community centre, which will both be open to the public.

“Working remotely over the last few months preparing this application has not been without its challenges, however, the whole project team from the client to the consultant team and indeed the local authority and Heritage England have all come together to help create a high quality proposal with great care and precision.” Feix&Merlin

“The former Walworth Town Hall and Newington Library are both iconic landmarks of which we are truly honoured to be the custodians. Our core mission is to bring these beloved local gems back into use as a vibrant creative workspace, educational, and community hub.” Frederic Schwass, Development Principal at General Projects.
