TRIBE DÜSSELDORF

Following an invited process, Feix&Merlin were commissioned to design the interiors for a new world-class hotel for the TRIBE brand in Dusseldorf, part of the Accor group, a comprehensive refurbishment of the old Intercity hotel. The project marks Feix&Merlin’s second collaboration with the innovative TRIBE brand, and represents TRIBE’s second location in Germany as the brand continues its expansion across Europe.

The design draws its inspiration from the Inclusivity Symbol, “[+]” a mathematical symbol composed of two brackets and a plus sign, perfectly encapsulating the idea that ‘everything inside is included’.  It serves as a global emblem of inclusivity, perfectly aligning with TRIBE’s ethos as a diverse and welcoming space for all.

The Inclusivity Symbol is thoughtfully integrated into the hotel’s interior design, from the spatial arrangement to custom-made joinery pieces. The design of the reception desk, which doubles-up as coffee bar and cocktail bar, mirrors the brackets of the Inclusivity Symbol, symbolically placing hotel staff and guests at its heart.

The Inclusivity Symbol carries through to the guest rooms, where the Inclusivity Symbol appears as a monogram pattern on the drapery fabric, overlaid with photographic artwork re-produced using a unique graphic process, and in the guest bathroom which features a framed mosaic tile artwork, designed and hand-made by Feix&Merlin at their studio in London.
