Julia is a highly accomplished architect with an exemplary track record at producing work of the highest standard on a variety of different project types and scales. She designs with a strength and drive and has an incredible eye for detail, perfecting the details in every project.
Julia trained at the North Rhine-Westphalia Technical University in Germany and the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Spain. She worked for various large German practices, including GMP and B&K+ before joining Will Alsop’s studio in 2001 where she helped to lead the ‘BIG Architecture’ team on major regeneration projects and the Walsall Waterfront masterplan.
Julia co-founded Feix&Merlin Architects in 2006, and jointly with Tarek, she leads all Feix&Merlin projects, with particular interests in residential as well as hospitality and retail projects.
Julia led the design team for the RBC pavilion at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which won a Gold Medal. She has recently completed the Conduit St Members Club in Mayfair, and is currently leading on a boutique hotel project in central London, as well as various other high profile projects.
Tarek is a highly skilled architect with a strong and instinctive approach, and a proven track record at delivering projects at every scale. He has the ability to see the whole project at once, understanding everything from the overall vision to detail interfaces at the same time. He is constantly sketching and drawing ideas as they arise.
Tarek graduated from the Bartlett in 2000, and originally worked at Foster & Partners before joining Will Alsop at his studio in Battersea in 2001. He played a key role on some of Alsop’s most high profile projects including Queen Mary University’s ‘Blizard Building’, and the ‘Palestra’ office building, as well as large masterplanning and infrastructure projects.
Tarek co-founded Feix&Merlin Architects in 2006, and jointly with Julia, he leads all Feix&Merlin projects, with particular interests in the arts and public spaces, as well as mixed-use regeneration projects.
Most recently Tarek lead the competition winning scheme for the redesign of Bohemia Place Arches at Hackney Walk, new hotels in Hamburg, and he is currently leading on the redevelopment of the Walworth Town Hall, Southwark.
Ignacio is a highly accomplished Senior Interior Designer, with a wealth of experience delivering developments around the world.
Ignacio trained at at the School of Architecture in Madrid, Spain before coming to work in the UK in the early 2000’s.
Ignacio completed a number of prestigious projects over the 5 years he spent working with the yoo design studio team on projects located all over the world.
He joins Feix&Merlin following on from a very successful period working with Finch Hatton, a private development company who operate at the pinnacle of luxury property design and development. He lead the team on some of their most high profile projects, producing ID Concepts and carrying them through to Development & Construction stages.
Since joining Feix&Merlin in 2016, Ignacio has worked on some key projects including the final stages of a 50-storey apart/hotel tower in Colombo, Sri Lanka; interiors for two new hotels in Hamburg and Berlin, and a new showroom in Clerkenwell for a new tile brand.
Susana Sousa is an accomplished architect with a wealth of experience in the private residential sector in particular.
She joins Feix&Merlin after several successful years at Paul Archer Design, an award-winning London-based architectural practice renowned for high quality projects in the private residential sector, where she delivered many interesting and varied projects.
She is currently working on a substantial private residential project in Streatham involving a full width rear extension as well as a new-build barn style studio building. She is also leading on a large residential redevelopment in Hayes, as well as a redesign of a large family home, and associated farm buildings and barns, on a large estate in Cambridge.
Joseph Hamblin is a Part II architectural assistant with a wealth of practical experience having worked in the profession for a number of years.
He has recently graduated as Part II from Central St Martins completing his Masters in Architecture.
He previously worked with Ash Sakula architects where he played an active role in their urban project Canning Town Caravanserai. Working with volunteers and local people to improve the site’s outreach and facilities through design and build.
He is currently leading on a hotel project in London, fitout of a railway arch in Hackney and a new-build retail pavilion.
Kate is a highly driven and motivated Interior Designer with an incredible eye for detail, and an excellent design aesthetic.
Kate graduated from the University of Brighton in 2016 with First Class Honours in Interior Architecture, and joins us from Buckley Grey Yeoman architects, where she quickly established herself as a key member of the design team.
Since joining Feix&Merlin in 2016, Kate has worked on some key projects, currently in the final stages of a 50-storey apart/hotel tower in Colombo, Sri Lanka; an office refurbishment in Cavendish Square, London and a tile showroom in Clerkenwell, London.
She is currently working on some research work for a major international hotel brand.
Sarah joins us as a Senior Freelance Designer working across both architecture and interiors projects, supporting us in busy periods.
She has extensive experience designing and delving architectural interior concepts and in particular is very strong on the FF&E design, specification and procurement process.
Mark Freeman is a Part I freelance architectural assistant, joining Feix&Merlin alongside his studies at Central St Martins, where he is studying for his Part II in Architecture.
He previously worked as a Part I architectural assistant with an exciting practice in Oxfordshire where he helped design, and construct the studio’s offices building so comes to us with a wealth of practical knowledge in design and construction.
He is currently working on a new F&B Market Hall concept, and a new retail pavilion, smaller parts of a larger development project.
Patrick is a Freelance Architect assisting with Feix&Merlin projects as and when needed and provide invaluable support during busy periods.
He comes to us with a wealth of experience in delivering complex tender packages and overseeing works on site for medium to large scale projects.
